FAQ: Class participation

Questions
Please ask your questions during class. Please do not ask questions before or after class, or during the breaks. One reason is that other students will benefit from your question and its answer. The other reason is that the instructors need the break time, either to prepare for the next step in the lesson or simply to rest feet and voice.
Web Developer = Typist
Face it. Familiarity with a computer keyboard is necessary if you want to keep up with the class exercises. Students who use a word processor, the keyboard, and mouse daily should have no problem keeping up with the exercises. Students should be familiar with wordwrap, drag-and-drop, cut-and-paste, creating folders, and saving files.
The Non-typist
If you are not proficient using the keyboard or mouse, plan only to observe, participate in discussions and take notes. The non-typist will get more out of this course by taking notes and trying the exercises at home or work at their own pace.
Typing speed
However, to succeed professionally, you'll benefit by raising your typing speed and accuracy to 40-60 words per minute. Investment in a typing tutorial is highly recommended. Start today.

Please ask the instructor right away for help. PLEASE DO NOT ASK YOUR NEIGHBOR. We are aware that not everyone is comfortable with the Windows 95/98 user interface. Get help early on, and the course will move more quickly for you and your classmates. Or, as in the case with typing, observe and take notes.
